Channels in Ujung Menteng Being Normalized to Prevent Flooding

A 50-meter-long water channel along Gang Satria 2, RT 02 to 06/RW 03, Ujung Menteng Urban Village is being revitalized by 11 personnel from Cakung Sub-district, East Jakarta.

It often causes floods about 10 centimeters high

Cakung Sub-district Water Resources (SDA) Executing Unit Head, Dian Nur Cahyono said the water channels are inadequate, small in size, and unable to accommodate high water flow.

"As a result, it often causes floods about 10 centimeters high," she expressed, Thursday (10/10).

She explained, the work process uses a single heavy equipment unit, a breaker, to break hardened structures or concrete and asphalt.

"This channel was revitalized using a U-ditch measuring 40x40x120 centimeters," she explained.

According to him, the work started on September 29, 2025, and is targeted to be completed by October 14. Currently, the progress has reached 75 percent.

"Hopefully, this can effectively prevent flooding," he hoped.

The work received appreciation from RT 06/03 Chair, Ujung Menteng Urban Village, Syarif.

"This channel is insufficient and only measures about 30x30 centimeters. Hopefully, this normalization can prevent flooding during the rainy season," he said.
